Do you also sometimes wonder how you can be sure that there is actually a REAL diamond in your jewellery? Are you worried that you might be buying a ring with a zirconia, when you are told otherwise? Then this info blog is definitely interesting for you to read!
With the purchase of any diamond from 0.30 carats, you will get a certificate at DiamondsByMe. Do you order a diamond smaller than 0.30 carats from us? Then you will receive a quality certificate prepared by DiamondsByMe itself. Certificates indicate exactly which diamond you bought, and what the quality of this diamond is. At DiamondsByMe, we work with HRD and GIA certificates. But what exactly do these certificates mean? You can read it here!
GIA - The Gemological Institute of America provides the GIA certificate. This institute has 12 branches worldwide with their Head Quarters in New York. This is where 95% of the certificates we issue at DiamondsByMe come from.
HRD - The Diamond High Council (HRD) is based in Antwerp. Each certificate is a sealed document in A6 format that contains the vital details of a diamond. Think of the 4 Cs: Colour, Clarity, Cut & Carat.
All certificates from the HRD and GIA are known for their reliability and quality. The certificates are drawn up by experts in the field of gemology and therefore both of these bodies are respected worldwide.
From 0.30 carats, we supply an official HRD or GIA certificate with a diamond as standard. Now I hear you thinking? Why don't I get a certificate with a smaller diamond? This is because of the high price of the certificate. The certificate would otherwise become almost more expensive than the diamond itself.
What does a certificate say and is interesting for you to know?
Fluorescence: We only sell diamonds with grade None, which means that the diamond has NO fluorescence. Fluorescence can make a diamond glow blue with a blacklight and causes lesser brilliance.
Then we have three other grades in a diamond: polish, symmetry and cut. A diamond can score so well on the above aspects, but if it is not polished properly and not cut symmetrically, the diamond is still not perfect. The cut is one of the most important aspects of a diamond. This is because a less well-cut diamond will sparkle less. That's why the diamonds we work with are standard XXX (3 x 'excellent') or XXVG (2 x excellent and 1 x very good). With these grades, you can be sure to have a beautiful stone, which is of course what we all want! At DiamondsByMe, we stand for quality!

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA), a leading authority in the field of gemology and the world's foremost provider of gemstone authentication and grading services, has recently made a significant change in the way they provide certificates for their clients. The organization, which has a long history of setting the standards for the industry, has switched from paper certificates to paperless certificates.
In the past, GIA would issue paper certificates for each gemstone that was submitted for evaluation. The certificate would detail the results of the analysis and provide information about the stone's colour, clarity, cut, and other important characteristics. These certificates would then be mailed to the client, often taking several weeks to arrive.
However, with the recent switch to paperless certificates, the process has become much more efficient and convenient for clients. Instead of receiving a physical certificate, clients can now access their certificates online through the GIA's secure and user-friendly platform. This allows clients to view their certificates anytime, anywhere, and eliminates the need to wait for the mail to arrive.
The paperless certificates are designed to be easy to use and accessible to all. They feature high-quality images of the gemstone, as well as detailed information about its characteristics and grading. The certificates are also easily shareable, allowing clients to share the information with their friends and family, or even to post it on social media.
In addition to being more convenient and accessible, the paperless certificates are also more environmentally friendly. By eliminating the need for paper certificates, GIA is reducing its carbon footprint and helping to protect the environment.
GIA is committed to providing its clients with the highest level of service and the best possible experience. The switch to paperless certificates is just one of the many ways in which the organization is meeting the evolving needs of its clients and staying at the forefront of the industry. Whether you are a gem collector, a jewellery designer, or simply someone who appreciates fine gemstones, you can rest assured that the GIA is dedicated to providing the best possible experience for you.
